Some 17th century poet once wrote “[man] often meets his destiny on the road he [takes] to avoid it.” I’m not pompous enough to call any of this my destiny, so let’s swap that for career and hobby.
I never wanted to do design. Originally, I wanted to write and illustrate comics (which I now do for fun). Design was the compromise between that and affording food, but even after getting my BFA in graphic design I never considered myself a designer. That’s why I double majored in psychology and ran to social work. I did not like social work. But it taught me the importance of communication, while my current work in health equity has taught me the importance of action. Design is the accumulation of both while art is its expression. Everything from my friendships to experiences in social work, customer service, and health equity have all combined to influence the work you see here.
I am the artist, the writer, and the designer. I am Madison A. Rhymes, MARS Creations. I hope you enjoy.
